Hey, sorry to take so long to get back on this, it’s been a hellish couple of weeks.

Just wanted to add that some of Zelazny’s stuff is a little more on the bad side of pulp than others. The Amber series is great, Lord of Light is great, and Lonesome October is great. A couple other good ones are “Creatures of Light and Darkness” and “Jack of Shadows”. But some of his others aren’t quite up to the same level, in my opinion.

Good luck with Focault’s Pendulum. Eco is great too, but there’s a lot of historical depth to wade through with him.

Thank you for so much information. And what an apt description of PKD. You can’t let go of his stories, mostly because they won’t let go of you. I’m not familiar with Zelazny, the quote was from an e-mail a very good friend sent me. But the way you describe him, again – wow.

I just had Focault’s Pendulum dropped in my lap, and I’m still sifting through a treatise on the theory of the Internet, but Zelazny is definitely up next on my list.

One of my favorite books from one of my all time favorite authors. Zelazny is highly underrated, better than PKD in my opinion. PKD reads like a meth trip, all chattery teeth and non-stop pounding thought. Zelazny's more like opium, dreamlike, detailed but not exactly cohesive, but the imagery...goddamn! The Chronicles of Amber's a great series, if you can sit through all of the books, and A Night In The Lonesome October's probably my favorite by him, for pure entertainment value. Thanks for posting this. It's been a while since I picked that one up.
